This requires more gold and resources, as you need to get at least a divine level dagger to close the gap in most cases, but this overcomes the damage loss from not having a staff, + giving you dual wielding benefits. Secondly, you can nearly, if not entirely overcome the loss in raw magic damage (+-20 raw magic attack vs an equivalent staff) by dual wielding scept and obsidian dagger. Faster animation speeds, lowered cooldown times for actions, not to mention potentially beating a DR to the punch with that overwhelm. But, there are a lot of arguments that could be made for Dagger + Scepter wielding.įirst off, the cut to your attack speed, which does help mages. Staves can be really good, if they're ultra powerful (legendary tier ayanad/t7 or celest or higher erenor). Daggerspell is highly recommended for this setup but enigmatist can also go dual wield if they desire. Both can get away with staff but I feel both are better with scepter/shield. Daggerspell is good for grinding mobs, and small scale pvp as well, both in arena and open world. With these trees leveled you can also be enigmatist, as Dimmizer said, is good for solo pvp and not too bad for navel activities. For both of these classes I would only recommend staff. Ultimately, I would level all 4 trees to switch between as Spellsong shines more in raid scenarios and Spellsinger is great in small group pvp and open world. I just depends on if you are more comfortable with quick, single teleports (most spellsongs dont spec heavy into Aura to get the multiple teleport passive) to get in postion/escape or if you like the combos and stealth of shadowplay for your main spec. They are basically the same with how they deal damage and the skills they take from Sorcery and Songcraft, only difference is the advantages from Shadowplay or Auramancy in situations. Spellsinger and Spellsong are the top glass cannon mage classes.
